Arts Itinerary
Day One:
Tour Center for History, Copshaholm, Studebaker
The new Studebaker National Museum opened on November 1, 2005. Its exhibits include topics relating to the Studebaker Family, great local industrial giants, Studebaker's critical role in the country's war effort, and others. The largest collection in the world of Presidential Carriages is located in Hail to the Chiefs: The Presidential Collection. Visitors will follow the area's industrial past from the early 1800s to the present.
Connected to the Center for History via a walkway, the two museums offer a campus-like experience for visitors. Copshaholm, the historic 38-room mansion is filled with all original furnishings ranging from the mid-17th to the 20th centuries and was the family home of industrialist J.D. Oliver. The History Center tells the story of the people of the St. Joseph River Valley. Several media presentations are offered. Length of visit: 180 minutes
Lunch at Tippecanoe Place
Dine in the luxury of Clement Studebaker's family home. 40 rooms complete with 20 fireplaces and beautiful chandeliers. Serving lunch, dinner and a delicious Sunday brunch. Length of visit: 60-90 minutes
South Bend Museum of Art
Since 1947, the South Bend Museum of Art has provided insight into the art, history and culture of the region and nation. An architectural delight designed by Phillip Johnson and John Burgee, the museum occupies three levels of Century Center and features one permanent gallery and five changing galleries, providing an outstanding opportunity to experience national traveling shows and intriguing thematic exhibits. Length of visit: 60 minutes
South Bend Chocolate Company Factory Tour and Chocolate Museum
Get the "inside scoop" and sample South Bend's favorite delicacy. Features an informative video, artifacts from the Chocolate Museum and a factory tour where you can have a sample straight off the production line! Length of visit: 60 minutes

Day Two:

Tour of the University of Notre Dame, including the Snite Art Museum and DeBartolo Performing Arts Center
Start your walking tour of this legendary campus at the Eck Visitors' Center with a brief video. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the Hesburgh Library with its 132-foot high mural depicting Christ the Teacher, the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes and the recently restored Main Building with its famed Golden Dome are among the most widely known university landmarks in the world. Shopping available at the Hammes Bookstore and dining options are available on campus. Meet the staff at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center for a group tour of the world-class facilities and then take a short stroll over to the Snite Art Museum. Length of visit: 180 minutes
Lunch at Morris Bistro
Located in the lower level of the Morris Performing Arts Center, enjoy causal upscale dining offering homemade soups, panini and specialty sandwiches, make to order salads, daily past specials and desserts. Length of visit: 60 minutes
Tour Morris Performing Arts Center
Step behind the curtain and experience the history and the magic of the Morris Performing Arts Center. Learn about the theater's life as a vaudeville house, movie theater, concert hall and historical landmark in downtown South Bend. Listen to stories about the stars who have graced the Morris stage, and get an insider's view of behind-the-scenes production. Length of visit: 75 minutes
